The Living Room is in the auditorium of the Stedelijk Museum!
The Living Room is an invitation for people to care for themselves and each other. It functions as a sheltering space where you can nap, meet, read, snug, entertain, hide out, cry, unwind, or build a pillow fortress. It serves as a space where informal, intimate, and laid-back events happen.
The Living Room is located in room -118 of the FedLev building and it’s gradually being filled with comforting objects made by its community.
Through the invitation of Studium Generale Rietveld Academie, the Living Room extends itself, becoming a satellite that moves beyond its physical location, following the same trajectory. In this way it becomes a concept that travels and adapts (in)to other spaces.
As a newborn initiative, the Living Room encourages everyone to get involved in co-creating, sustaining and nurturing its existence; making sure that it carries on and becomes a fundamental part of everyday life at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie and Sandberg Instituut.
If you want to organise get-togethers, interventions, blanketing events, bringing objects, or ideas, reach out to us through livingroom@rietveldacademie.nl
The Living Room was founded by Neeltje van der Vlugt and Matilda Lövgren and is supported by the Student Council.
